Semtex-laden drone defused at German airport near Ukrainian cargo plane

In a nutshell: On the night of 4–5 August, an employee at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany discovered a drone carrying 800 grams of Semtex plastic explosive near the south runway, close to a parked Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft. A second drone or object struck a freight plane in mid-air during the disruption; that aircraft diverted to Hannover with minor damage. The detonator was removed by a bomb-disposal robot. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described it as representing a new quality of danger.
